SDL_Renderer is an old component of SDL aimed at replacing graphics API, in my opinion it is a useless dead-end and no one should use SDL_Renderer. Even just using ImGui's ImDrawList + native OGL/DX back-ends will get you closer to something useful. Consider using SFML or openFrameworks or custom renderer instead of SDL + SDL_Renderer.
